Minnesota Duluth received a verbal commitment Tuesday from St. Paul Academy sophomore forward Devlin McCabe. The 15-year-old made the announcement on Twitter.
McCabe at 5-foot-9, 160-pounds, turns 16 in June. The righty from North Oaks, Minn. tallied 16 goals and 25 assists in 27 games this season for SPA, which finished fourth in Class A at the state tournament. He tallied 16 goals and 34 assists as a freshman.
Last summer McCabe participated in USA Hockey’s Boys Select 15 camp in Williamsville, N.Y. Two weeks ago he was taken in the second round, 20th overall, of the 2016 USHL Futures Draft by the Madison Capitols. A year ago he went in the seventh round, No. 135 overall, in the Western Hockey League (Canadian major junior) bantam draft.
